Edo Insecurity: Police Kill Two Suspected Kidnappers, Free Female Victim, Recover Two Corpses In Ahor Forest

In the early hours of Thursday, 18 February 2021, two suspected kidnappers were shot dead by men of the Edo state police command in Ahor forest on the Benin Bypass.

Similarly, two unidentified decomposing bodies of the kidnapped victims allegedly killed by the said kidnappers were recovered.

According to Standard Gazette crime correspondent Festus Alenkhe who was in Ahor forest with the security operatives team gathered that the police rescued the wife of a famous hotelier who was kidnapped in the hotel premises in the woods.


There have been reported cases of kidnapping at the Benin Bypass by unknown gunmen.

After receiving a tip from residents, that a businesswoman in Benin had just been abducted by known kidnappers responsible for numerous abductions in the state, the operatives deploy officers into the forest.

The police arrested two suspects, Desmond Ojo and Musa Mohammed, on the spot.

Standard Gazette gathered that the suspects were responsible for the attack and abduction of the Edo state Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Bridget Esene, who was kidnapped at her church premises in Ikhueniro near Benin city.


The kidnappers were also responsible for the abduction of Mrs Chinaza Nwaka, who was taken along Lucky Way in Ikpobal Hill, Benin City and spent days in the forest before her release.

Standard Gazette also gathered that the same kidnappers forcefully took a businessman and snatched his Toyota Highlander Jeep along Benin-Auchi Road in Benin City.

It was gathered that Desmond Ojo, Musa Mohammed and their gang were responsible for abducting the wife of a hotelier who was kidnapped at her hotel premises in Edo State.

One of the victims, Mrs Chinaza Nwaka, confirmed to Standard Gazette that she was “kidnapped by the gunmen at the side of my car along Lucky Way on 20 December 2020.

The two arrested alleged kidnappers confessed to the police that “some of our kidnapped victims are tied to a tree in Ahor forest on the Benin Bypass”.

The Suspects told Standard Gazette that “we keep our guns in the forest and use them during kidnapping operation.”

After their confessions, Desmond Ojo and Musa Mohammed led the police into the forest, where they tied their victims to a tree. The victims were rescued, Standard Gazette can confirm.

The police recovered three cuts to size guns, five expended cartridge, one military camouflage, female undies, two wristwatches, and Atm card.

Investigators also recovered two corpses whom the kidnappers murdered at the scene.

The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the incident, said, “the gang members of the arrested Suspect had a gun duel with the police where two of the suspects were killed.

As at press time, police are still in Ahor village ransacking the forest to flush out the criminals.
