Edo: ‘Na Your Face Be This?’ -Oba Of Benin To Gov Obaseki

The Oba of Benin Kingdom, Omo ‘N Oba Eware II, Oku Akpolor-kpolor, on Saturday went comic in displaying the unwitting animosity that has existed between his palace and the Edo state governor for some years during the visit of Mr. Atiku Abubakar to Palace of the respect monarch.

Welcome the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate and his campaign team to his palace ahead of their campaign in Benin city, the Oba said it was a long time he had seen the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki face to face despite being in the same city.

He said: We are glad that our governor is also here today, whom we have not seen in a long time.

Let me say it as our people used to say, “na your face be this”?

Literally expressing how long he has seen the Governor, even though they are both in the same city and about 5 minutes drive from government house to the palace.

The Oba’s humorous statement sent the hall into laughter with the governor standing to give the Benin traditional salutation to the king.

Obaseki said: “Oba khator okpae” (Long live the king) and everyone chorused; Isee.
