Edo PDP: Group Calls For Aziegbemi’s Suspension

DISSATISFIED with what it described as an “ignoble role” played by the Edo state People’s Democratic Party, PDP chairman, Mr. Tony Aziegbemi, a pressure group in the party known as the PDP Rescue Mission has called for his immediate suspension from office as the state chairman.

In a statement released to the press on Saturday and signed by its national coordinator, Deacon Darlington Okpebholo Ray and its secretary, Mr. Oluwabamidele Elempe, the group accused the embattled chairman of working again the interest of the party and disregard for its constitution.

He was accused of sending a fake Delegates list to Abuja when he knew quite well that those names were not the real delegates from a process monitored by INEC.

Apart from this fraudulent act, which amounts to anti-party activity, he is also accused of arrogating to himself the powers to disobey the Federal High Court order which specifically instructed that only the INEC monitored ad hoc delegates should be recognized. The group further went on to claim Dr. Anthony Aziegbemi has constituted himself to a threat to democracy in Edo State PDP and must not be allowed to continue in office.

“We hereby use this medium to call on the Edo State PDP Excos and other relevant authorities within the state and National bodies to invoke the necessary sections of the party constitution and have Mr. Aziegbemi suspended till further notice”, the statement concluded.
