Edo Police Confirm The Arrest Of 357 Suspected Criminals in Two Months

Edo state command of the Nigerian Police has confirmed the arrest of 357 persons alleged to have been involved in various criminal activities in Edo state.

According to Standard  Gazette, the breakdown shows that 58 suspects were arrested for kidnapping, 100 for secret cult-related activities, 81 for alleged armed robbery, 6 for rape and 7 for defilement.

 

Others are 50 suspects for murder, 13 for attempted murder, and 16 suspects for unlawful possession of firearms.

The police also recovered several assorted rifles and locally made guns.

They include Ak47 rifles, Lar guns, pump-action guns, English made double barrel guns, locally made guns and live rounds of ammunition and cartridges.

The commissioner of police , CP Philip Ogbadu said ” the command is faced with violent crimes of kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, murder, rape and burglary”.

“Robust Anti-crime patrols, raiding of identified blackspots and Bush combing patrols have been ongoing”.

CP Philip Ogbadu said the police will continue to work with local hunters and other stakeholders in ensuring the safety of the people of Edo state.

He commended the Edo state government for the support received so far under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
