Edo: Police Raid Continue As Suspected Gang Members Arrested In Okomu Over Cult War

Some men allegedly terrorizing Okomu and other nearby areas have been arrested in Edo State.

The arrest is not unconnected to the cult war that has led to the death of more than three youths.

Nigerian police raided the cultists’ enclaves in Edo State on 26 August 2022 at about 4.30 pm.

 

The raid led to the arrest of Lawrence Yambo and his gang that had been allegedly terrorizing the Okomu riverine community in Ovia South west local government area of Edo state.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, had earlier directed an intensive raid of the community.

Operatives of the Command attached to the intelligence and rapid response squad, the Command’s crack team, and the Marine Police of the Command mobilized and swung into action.

On arrival at the community, the other miscreants terrorizing the community on sighting the operatives fled into the forest in the area and abandoned their loots.

An intensive raid of most of the houses in the community was conducted.

Some arms and ammunition were recovered. They include 2 AK 49 RIFFLES, 1 AK 47 RIFFLE, two locally made revolver single barrel guns, a locally made single barrel gun, one locally made double barrel, one locally made cut-to-size barrel gun, 128 pieces of AA cartridges, 12 pieces of 9mm ammunition, two telephone handsets, two army shirts, two high-pressure gas cylinders and bag of charms.

Edo state er of Police, CP Abutu, applauded the professionalism of the Men in leading the onslaught.
