Edo State residents are worried about the continuous attack on Oke-Oroma community and have lamented the unwarranted destruction meted on the inhabitants by alleged hirelings of Amagba and Obazagbon communities.
The residents, who spoke to our reporters in separate interviews appealed to the government to bring the perpetrators to book while pleading with Nigerians to come to their rescue.
The gale of mayhem consistently brought down on the sleepy community and the reckless destruction of lives and properties by these land grabbers has become a great source of worry to concerned Edo citizens.
These two communities are alleged to have been terrorizing the community since the second quarter of 2012 with the last unfortunate incidence occurring on the 12th of August 2021 at about 3 am.
A resident in the community, Mr. Sunny Idahosa, said that the issue of these land grabbers should be nipped in the bud before it degenerates into a communal crisis.
” From the look of things it is clear that this is a major communal crisis in the making, we all know the brutal means these land grabbers deploy in getting what they want, they always come heavily armed to forcefully take over properties, we have lost our youths and elders to these hoodlums and we are desperately pleading with the government to please come to our rescue”
Another resident Mr. James Odia lamented the hell they have been going through for some years in the hands of these land grabbers.
” To say that we have not passed through hell in the hands of Amagba and Obazagbon youths is an understatement, they have burnt our traditional heritages, our town hall, cars, properties and even killed our people, we now live in perpetual fear of our lives and property, what have we done to deserve this man’s inhumanity to his fellow man?
Meanwhile the clan head of Oke-Oroma community , Mr. Gaius I. Emokpae has queried the persistent attack on his community.
“The question that comes to mind here is this. Why did Amagba & Obazagbon keep attacking Oke-Oroma incessantly & persistently without being brought to book? It is crystal clear that on the heels of the foregoing, there is in place a network of conspiratorial synergy and orchestration by Amagba, Obazagbon & Okhoromi villages to raze down Oke-Oroma village so as to execute their expansionist ambition as they did to Ugbo, Evbukhu, Oguumwenyi, Ago Uwagboe & Ogheghe villages in not too distant past.
We appeal to the authority to bring this injustice and inhumanity to an end.”
Meanwhile, Civil society organizations in the State recently held a world press conference where they decried the heinous activities of these land grabbers who stop at nothing to invade communities all with the sole aim to dislodge them and grab their lands.
