Former England defender, Jamie Carragher has predicted that the next round of Premier League fixtures could be key in determining the champion of the 2021/2022 season.
Both Manchester City and Liverpool will be in action in the semi-finals of the Champions League this week.
Pep Guardiola’s side hosts Real Madrid on Tuesday, while Jurgen Klopp’s team welcomes Villarreal to Anfield on Wednesday.
After that, City face Leeds at Elland Road and Liverpool take on Newcastle at St James’ Park.
The Reds moved within a point of City on Sunday afternoon thanks to a 2-0 victory against Everton at Goodison Park.
Carragher feels that the next 10 days could define their respective campaigns.
“For both teams, the game in-between a Champions League semi-final will take so much out of you, physically and mentally.
“Something could happen in the next league game… I do look at the next couple of games, as I said with Everton, if Liverpool can stay in the same position getting into West Ham for Man City, it looks more favourable in Liverpool,” he said.
