Former Anambra First Lady Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano has won the North senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

She defeated her husband’s former Chief of Staff, Chief Primus Odili with 152 votes to 120 at the Ikpeazu Sports Stadium, Onitsha Sunday

However, her husband’s political son and former Commissioner for Housing, Mike Okonkwo, lost the House of representatives primary for Orumba North and South to Sir Eric Eze, a business man

Eze polled 36 votes to defeat Obiano’s anointed candidate who scored 30 votes for the APGA ticket

The election was conducted at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre in Awka.

In the All Progressives Congress(APC), former governorship aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe, won the senatorial seat for Anambra Central.

Okelekwe’s election was monitored by a three-man member of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) led by Nwanga Anthony, a Deputy Director in the Commission.

Soludo’s rival in APGA during the governorship election, Hon Chukwuma Umeorji, picked the APC ticket for the South zone.

At the Central senatorial zone, the APC delegates voted through affirmation for Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe.

Okelekwe told reporters it was time for APC to show the stuff it was made in Anambra State in the 2023 election

He said others withdrew for him because they had confidence in his ability to defeat opposition candidates in the Central zone

Another former governorship aspirant on the platform of the party, Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo picked the House of representatives ticket for Aguata Federal Constituency while Hon Ifeanyi Ibezim picked the Idemili North and South ticket.

For the Awka North and South Federal ticket, it was another governorship aspirant, Maxwell Okoye, who was elected, while the incumbent lawmaker for Orumba North and South, Hon Okwudili Nwankwo retained the APC ticket.
