Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) Prof. Shuaib AbdulRaheem yesterday emerged Kwara State governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the 2023 election.
Party Chairman AbdulRazaq Abdulsalam announced the adoption of Prof. AbdulRaheem shortly after a meeting with party stakeholders yesterday.
He said: “We have picked Prof. Shuaib AbdulRaheem as our governorship candidate. He’s now a full member of NNPP.”
According to the party chief, AbdulRaheem will be attending the meeting of all NNPP governorship candidates today in Abuja.
Prof. AbdulRaheem expressed his preparedness to join other eminent Nigerians and Kwarans to take the party to greater heights.
In his remarks, Kwara norther senatorial candidate of the NNPP, Dr Kolo Jiya, said the party will form government in Kwara state come 2019.
He expressed confidence in the ability of AbdulRaheem to lead the party to victory in the elections and as well return Kwara to path of progress and greatness.
Kolo added that a more elaborate event would be held where the party’s gubernatorial candidate will be presented to the general public
