Initiative For Rural Development, Information And Legal Advocacy (IRUDIRA), a non-profit organization connecting communities to legal services and advisory has called on Governor Godwin Obaseki to sack Mr George Ohioma Esq, as a member of Local Government Service Commission over criminal records.
In a letter dated 23rd of August, 2022 and signed by President Aigbokhan, Esq titled “Petition Against Mr. George Ohioma Esq For Accepting Political Appointment And Enjoying Emolument During His Period Of Sanction” urged the governor to immediately sack Mr. Ohioma and retrieve all the salary and entitlements he has enjoyed till date.
“We act as Solicitors to INITIATIVE FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT, INFORMATION AND LEGAL ADVOCACY (IRUDILA) a non-profit organization connecting communities to legal services and advisory (hereinafter referred to as “Our Client”) on whose instruction we write.
“Our client informed us that Mr. George Ohioma, Esq was appointed as a member of the Local Government Service Commission since 2019 (hereinafter referred to as ‘the accused” whereas he has a been convicted by the legal practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) since 2010.
“Our client also informed us that the accused was charged for the offence of fraudulent conversion of client’s money by the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in petition number 20/06/2006.
“We request that the accused person be disengaged from the Local Government Service Committee immediately and retrieve all the salary and entitlements he has enjoyed till date”, the letter to Edo State Governor, Governor Obaseki reads in part.
How true is this?
The person in question (George) has been holding positions, why is it coming now?
