Grandpa Arrested For Defiling 2-Year-Old Girl In Edo State

A 63-year-old grandpa has been arrested by men of the Edo state police command for defiling a 2-year-old girl.

The incident happened in URHONIGBE in Orhionmwon local government area of Edo state.

An investigation by Standard Gazette crime correspondent Festus Alenkhe revealed that the suspect identified as Sunday Igbinokhuaihe resides in the same house with the victim’s parents.

He was alleged to have used bread to lure the little girl into his room where he used his finger to break the hymen while the mother was in the kitchen preparing dinner.

Standard Gazette learned that the mother of the child noticed her daughter screamed when she attempted to bath her later.

Upon an enquiry to know the reason for the loud screaming, the little girl told the mummy that the Sunday Igbinokhuaihe used a finger on her private part.

The report was then laid at the URHONIGBE Police station where the man was arrested and later transferred to Abudu Police Division.

A medical test was then conducted on the little girl where the result showed that there was a contact with the hymen.

The grandfather was thereafter transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Edo state police command in Benin city where he is currently cooling off in their detention facility.

Members of the Edo Progressive Indigenous Association worldwide also known as Edo Indigenous Movement led by Chief Dr Omogiade Edokpolor were spotted in the Edo state Police command headquarters in Benin city following up the case.

Dr Edokpolor said they are in the police headquarters to ensure that, the case is not swept under the carpet.

He called on the police to ensure that the suspect, Sunday Igbinokhuaihe is diligently prosecuted.

Contacted for comment, the Edo state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor confirmed the arrest of the suspect.

He said the police has completed an investigation into the matter as the man will appear in court this week.
