Four persons including unidentified police Constabulary and a tricycle operator better known as ‘Keke NAPEP operator’ were reportedly shot dead by gunmen at different locations at the Weekend in Benin.
According to reports, the tricycle operator simply identified as Mr. Tony, was allegedly shot dead by his assailant at Ohovbe Community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the State after he had dropped his Children in school at about 7.30a.m on Friday.
It was gathered that the gunmen also who cutlass to inflict deep cuts on the remains of the father of four Children whose wife was delivered of a baby girl in January this year and left him at the scene, thereby causing outrage in the neighbourhood.
A witness who declined to give his details, alleged that the gunmen rode on a Tricycle from Aduwawa axis into the Community and exited through the same route after hitting their target.
At the popular Third East Circular road by Esigie junction in Oredo Local Government Area, a police Constabulary and the owner of ‘Shelle bar’ was shot dead.
The armed police Constabulary guard at the drinking spot, was hit by bullets from the hoodlums.
Also, a female who was hit by stray bullet was said to have given up the ghost before help could come her way.
The security personnel, reportedly sat beside the owner of the bar when the gunmen fired gunshots from a Toyota Sienna bus used for the operation at a close range and sped-off.
Some residents in the area fear that the death may not be unconnected with with the Cult clashes between members of Eiye and rival black axe confraternity group which have reportedly claimed over 18 lives since January 1st 2021.
But the Superintendent of Police, Edo State Police Command, Mr. Chidi Nwabuzor, said, he was yet to be briefed about the incidents.
