Gwoza Bombing Was Carried Out to Embarrass the Government – Chief of Defense Staff, General Musa


Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, has said the recent bombing in Gwoza and Pulka towns, Borno State, which claimed numerous lives, was intended to humiliate the government.

General Musa made this statement during a courtesy visit to Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang in Jos on Monday.

He however reassured Nigerians that the perpetrators of such evil acts would not succeed.

The Defense Chief appealed to Nigerians to report suspicious activities promptly, acknowledging that security agencies rely on human intelligence from the public.

He said, “The Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure that there is peace and security in the country. What had happened in Gwoza shows clearly those that meant bad or evil for the country are not relenting. And so, we must continue to work heard.

“It was a deliberate thing to embarrass the government but they will not succeed. Recently, we were able to arrest some who have come with IED equipment trying to blow up some insulations. We will continue to work hard. Our appeal to Nigerians is those people perpetrating this evil act are within us.

“They sleep and leave within us. If we report as quickly as possible, actions would be taken. Security cannot be everywhere. We are not magicians. We also rely on human intelligence we are getting from the people. That is why we call on Nigerians that the responsibility to secure Nigeria depends on all Nigerians working together with security agencies. We are committed to ensure that is us achieved, “ he added.
