BENIN CITY – In a proactive effort to enhance Edo State’s sports performance, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission (ESSC), Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, hosted an interactive session with coaches from various sports disciplines at the commission’s media center.
The session commenced with brief introductions, followed by a motivational address from the Permanent Secretary of the commission, Mrs. A. P. Efe-Amenze. She emphasized the primary objective of securing top honors at the upcoming festival and highlighted the urgency for ball game coaches to intensify their preparations, as the elimination rounds are just two weeks away.
Mrs. Efe-Amenze called for increased cooperation among the commission’s staff, urging all coaches to fully engage in the preparations moving forward. Coaches representing a wide array of sports, including gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, squash, chess, scrabble, taekwondo, para-athletics, and football, were encouraged to share their challenges and medal expectations.
After listening to the coaches’ concerns, Hon. Enabulele assured them that the issues raised would be addressed. “Success is a shared responsibility,” he stated, urging coaches to deliver results in return for the commission’s support.
He reassured the coaches of the commission’s commitment to resolving the highlighted challenges, aligning with the vision of Governor Monday Okpebholo and Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa to restore Edo State’s prominence in sports at both local and international levels.
The session concluded on a positive note, with coaches feeling empowered and motivated to work collectively towards achieving success in the upcoming competitions. Hon.
