The first quality we look out for when assigning a task, in a situation where the objective is productivity, is capability. Capability (noun) is the foundation of the adjective, capable. Thus, when we say that a person is capable or has capability, we simply mean that he has the power or ability to do or perform a given task or fulfill an expectation.
The synonyms of capability are: ability, capacity, power, potentiality, competence, proficiency, accomplishment, adeptness, aptitude, experience, skillfulness, talent, and intelligence (Google).
No doubt, as we go into the ritual of selecting those who will represent our communities in various elective positions in 2023, we shall be looking out for those with capacity to perform the work they will be assigned. It is no understatement that the masses, who are tired of mediocre and self-serving representation are pining for persons who possess the qualities listed above. And they desire the best definition of capacity.
It is not only the general voters that are desirous of a representative with capacity; the party members are earnestly desirous too. And they know those with capacity amongst the aspirants. Of course, they are in a better position to know because they have the privilege of relating with them at close quarters and assessing their immediate and remote performances. The party masses know the aspirants with capacity, and the levels of their capacity.
One aspirant, who has already demonstrated optimal capacity, and has endeared himself to the majority of the party members in his Constituency, and which has made them to be rooting for him, is Hon. Pius Alile, who is contesting the APC House of Representatives Ticket for Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency. If an election were to hold today, I believe that Alile will take other aspirants to the cleaners. This is the reason why some agents of other threatened aspirants have been throwing around uncharitable false narratives with the hope of instigating the leaders to stop party delegates from determining who will represent Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Constituency. They have also revved up their emotional blackmail against the party leadership to give effect to their undemocratic pining.
In spite of the shenanigans and the scurrilous attacks, Hon. Pius Alile remains the darling aspirant of Egor and Ikpoba-Okha. The people, the ordinary and the elite, have seen in him what they desire, and which those who have had the opportunity to occupy influential public offices for years until now, do not possess, cannot give, and would not give even if they were endowed.
Unlike those who have been privileged to enjoy the mandate of the people to high offices, Hon. Pius Alile has only had to share with the people the little he has and to flow with them in empathy. Despite this humble and noble disposition, Hon. Alile has nonetheless displayed before them the excellence of his mind, which is a product of proper home training and high education.
What more should the people ask for that is not encapsulated in Alile’s capacity? Why should they not be given the honour and opportunity to choose who will be best for them, the party and the people of Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency? Why should Alile not be the people’s choice having fulfilled all requirements?
