As the world all over mark international youth day, *Hon Valentine Owamagbe Asuen*, Edo South Senatorial Flag bearer of APC for the 2023 general elections has hail the youth for their continuous contribution at ensuring that Nigeria stand as one and make progress.
He enjoin the youth to join hands across the Nation to break down barriers that tend to divide us and work in unison to achieve a more equitable, just and inclusive Society for all people.
The statement reads in parts; “The Nigeria youth must take it upon themselves and surmount all odds to develop themselves. It is encouraging to note that in solution seeking moments of today you still find the courage to believe in this nation”
“Historically, the struggle for Nation hood and self determination was made by the resilience of Youth across the Country. Youths laid down their lives for the sake of freedom and national unity. Today their reward and ours too, lies in you to defend our democracy, not forgetting those who had lost their lives for yours to be spared today.”
He further stated that, “As we take stock of our accomplishments and shortcomings we should not, by a slightest of chance loose sight of our own ambitious and dreams to better our lot educationally, in total economic participation and empowerment, emancipation and political participation”
He concluded by saying our leadership is of today and not leaders of tomorrow hence the need to get actively involved in politics and foster a nation in which all people irrespective of race, colour, sex, religion or Creed, can assert social cohesion fully.
