Hoodlums Burn Down Festus Omorogbe’s House In A Reprisal Attack

Urhonigbe in Orhiomwon local government area of Edo STATE has been thrown into panic following the attack and burning of the residence of Mr FESTUS OMOROGBE in URHONIGBE Edo STATE.

Festus Omoregbe was accused of abducting, murder, and the burning of the residence of one Mr Imuetinyan in the locality.

Festus’s family were at the headquarters of the Edo state police command in Benin city to request the police authority to arrest and prosecute all those fingered in the arson.

Trouble started when one Mr Imuetinyan was said to have been responsible for the death of a 19-year-old son of Mr OMOROGBE through spiritual means.

In a commando-style, hoodlums murdered and burnt down Imuentiyan’s house in Urhonigbe on 30 December 2020.

Standard Gazette had gathered that Festus and Imuetinyan had disagreed over a loan Imuetinyan had given to one of the indigenes in the area.

It was gathered that Festus signed as a guarantor for the loan.

According to information gathered, the situation led to a quarrel and shortly after, Omoregbe took ill and died.

An angry mob then invaded Imuentiyan’s residence, beat him to his death before setting his house on fire.

The police then commenced an investigation.

Hoodlums loyal to the late Imuentiyan also set Omoregbe’s house ablaze in what seems to be a retaliation

Chamber of Olayiwola Afolabi Esq has written a two-paragraph petition to the police, demanding the prosecution of everyone involved in the attack at the residence of Omoregbe and ensure that the arsonists are brought to book.

Spokespersons for the OMOROGBE’s family, Kelvin Happy and Joy Omorogbe said the attackers also stole some personal items from the house.

” We were shocked when some persons entered our house, chased us away and set the house on fire. We are not responsible for the attack of Mr Imuetinyan’s death and the burning of his house “.

The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor had earlier assured that the police will extensively investigate the incident.

SP Nwabuzor called for calm from the two parties
