Starting a business from scratch and guiding it to success is not an easy endeavor in contemporary Nigeria society. Ask any business owner in the country then you will hear stories of constant strategies and persistence that has kept them sleepless for many nights.

This article looks at the interesting inspiring story of an entrepreneur and student of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi,Osagie Osarumen Precious who despite financial constraint and struggle was able to build a successful clothing business with just #16, 000 from her savings.

Her success is a huge lesson for many ladies because she never thought of dating yahooboys or ‘sell’ her body to male folks to make money.

According to her: “I used my last 16k I saved to buy just 6 pair of Jeans and started selling to my hostel mates in school…”

One of her resolutions this new year 2022 is to expand the business by adding hair attachment, toiletries to the business and to educate others to take responsibility for themselves.

Read more about her below:

My name is Osagie Osarumen Precious. Am a simple, committed business oriented young lady, Open minded and a God lover.

Am from Edo state, currently running my ND program at Auchi polytechnic and I sell female clothings in wholesale & retail

1. What motivated me?
I’ve always been someone who wants to be independent. I’ve always had it in mind to start a business but I didn’t know how and what to do and due to some financial contraints from home, I decided to venture into the business to support myself through school.

The current phase I was then motivated me because I didn’t have anyone to sponsor my education and I will say I was motivated purely by self interest.
Its been 7 months now I remembered using the last 16k I saved to buy just 6 pair of Jeans and started selling to my hostel mates in school and here I am today my little biz of yesterday has made positive growth & I feel so blessed and grateful for where I am today.

2. My 2022 goal

a) To expand my business by adding Male wears, toiletries, perfumes, roll on, undies, wigs, hair attachments etc. For now I only sell shoe & clothes

b) I’m currently selling under a tree shade coupled with the rain and sun palava I wish to rent a mini store at our hostel market so I can stock my goods.

c) To gather enough money to be able to enrol and complete my HND program

d) To educate and empower others to take self responsibility for themselves in order to to live a vibrant life.

Starting up a business isn’t easy the struggles may be there but you see that thing you want to do, just sit and plan sometimes you are not ready but just take the first step.
