Imo Guber: Why We Endorsed Uzodimma –Group

Okigwe Political Consultative Assembly (OPOCA), a Pan-Okigwe political pressure group, has endorsed Governor Hope Uzodimma as the sole candidate of the zone in the forthcoming November 11 governorship election in Imo State.

The group, comprising appointees of the state government in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is led by Love Ineh, Simon Ebegbulem, director of Publicity and Cosmas Iwu as patron.

Speaking during a meeting at the weekend hosted by Ebegbulem who is the commissioner for Trade and Investment, he said the idea of the group was to garner support in the senatorial district for Governor Uzodimma ahead the forthcoming election.

President of OPOCA Okigwe zone, Ineh stated the need for sons and daughters of Okigwe zone to come together and speak with one voice, adding that it is key to the continuous growth and development of the zone.

She said the group has membership in all the wards in Okigwe zone.

 

According to her “considering the massive transformation going on in the state in terms of infrastructure, human capital development and empowerment, we have resolved and unanimously adopted Uzodimma as the sole candidate of the zone for the November 11 governorship election.

“We are proud of the governor for the people-oriented developments going on in the state and we congratulate him on the conferment of the Commander of the Order of the Niger by the Federal Government, the Grand Service Star (GSSR) by the Rivers State Government and his emergence as the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, which is as a result of the astute leadership qualities, achievements, national reach and contacts.”

She promised that on November 11, 2023, Okigwe zone will deliver its votes in block 100 per cent to the All Progressives Congress.

Imo House of Assembly Speaker, Emeka Nduka, Secretary to the State Government, Cosmas Iwuh, and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy, Ruby Emele, all stated that Okigwe zone has never had it so good considering the level of political opportunities given to sons and daughters of the zone, noting that the reward for good work is more work.

They promised to use their good offices to ensure the group delivers in its mandate.

Leadership of Orlu Political Consultative Assembly (OPOCA), through its National President, Rex Anunobi, reminded the people that Governor Uzodimma is a pan-Imo leader without any zonal bias in his leadership of the state and urged the people of Okigwe zone to position themselves properly for more dividends by voting for Uzodimma in the forthcoming election.

Anunobi promised to use his experience to support the sister group to ensure its growth and realisation of their goal.

The high point of the gathering was the adoption of the motion moved by the Sole Administrator of Ihitte Uboma council, Uche Okonkwo, that Uzodimma be and remain the sole candidate for the November 11 governorship election in the state.
