Insecurity: Military On Patrol Killed Suspected Kidnapper At The Point Of Abduction In Benin

BENIN – A suspected kidnapper was on Wednesday 13 January 2021 shot dead by a military escort in Benin city Edo state.

Standard Gazette gathered that the deceased suspect and his cohorts now on the run was alleged to have trailed a woman to Aduwawa in Ikpoba Hill, Benin city.

The victim who was inside a car was accosted along the road near NTA premises in Aduwawa in Benin city.

The armed kidnappers after putting the woman’s car to a stop then forced her out of the car into their own car earlier snatched, Standard Gazette learned

But unknown to the hoodlums that some heavily armed soldiers who were travelling on that route spotted them during the attack of the woman.

The soldiers immediately stopped to rescue the woman.

But upon sighting the soldiers, the hoodlums opened gunfire as a decoy to escape.

One of them however fell to the superior firepower of the Soldiers as he was shot dead on the spot while others escaped.

The woman was rescued unhurt.

Contacted, the Edo state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor who confirmed the incident said, men of the Aduwawa Police Division were called to the scene of the incident as an investigation into the kidnapping saga has been instituted.

He said the policemen took the deceased suspect to the mortuary as the police quickly cordoned off the entire Aduwawa in Benin city to arrest those who escaped from the scene.
