JUST IN: DELSU Suspends SUG Elections Over Cyber Attack, As Students Insist On Manual Voting

Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, has suspended the ongoing Students Union Government, SUG, elections due to some fraudulent activities at the university’s portal.

Oasis Magazine learnt that the election by electronic voting scheduled to start by 9:am on Friday began at 12 noon.

According to sources, while the election was still ongoing, a memo signed by the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Chukwujindu M.A. Iwegbue, said the election was suspended till further notice.

Meanwhile, a statement on Friday by the institution, signed by Prof. Iwegbue, said there was a cyber- attack on the SUG election portal.

Adding: “Be assured that frantic effort is being made to ensure the conduct of a smooth and credible election as soon as possible.

“Any inconvenience is highly regretted.”

This development, however, has generated mixed reactions from students and the university community.
