JUST IN: Details Of Meeting With 26 Edo APC Gubernatorial Aspirants In Abuja REVEALED

The meeting between All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants in the forthcoming Edo State gubernatorial election and leaders of the party in the state, ended in Abuja a few minutes ago, INFO can authoritatively report.

The meeting was between the 26 governorship aspirants of the party and the State Working Committee, leaders from the 18 local government councils, among others where the forthcoming election was extensively deliberated upon

The meeting which started at about 12noon in Abuja today, Saturday, 13th, 2024, was convened by a former governor of the state and presently Senator of the Federal Republic, Comarde Adams Oshiomhole.

Recall that INFO DAILY had reported that the APC suspended sales of expression of interest and nomination forms for the Edo State governorship election occasioned by today’s meeting which held purposely to discuss the September 21st election.

At the end of today’s meeting, INFO DAILY gathered that a five-man committee was set up by leaders of the party with the responsibility of interfacing with the 26 aspirants and pruning the number to a reason number, and coming up with a credible aspirant who will bear flag of the party.

The committee is to submit its report during a similar meeting scheduled for Monday next week.

According to our source who happens to be a leader of the party in the state but does not want his name mentioned, said the issue of zoning was not discussed in today’s meeting as we had earlier reported.

“The issue of zoning was not part of today’s meeting. The major concern of the party is the number of aspirants and how to prune the number to a reasonable size, so we can at the end present a credible candidate. The party is interested in presenting a credible candidate who can win election and not the zone he comes from,” our source said.

The sales of the governorship forms is still suspended, our source disclosed.

Also, no aspirant stepped down or forced to step down at the end of today’s meeting, our source disclosed.

The major issues discussed in today’s meeting were the many aspirants and the need to prune the number and come up with a credible candidate.

INFO DAILY also gathered that after next Monday’s meeting, another meeting had been scheduled for Thursday same next week also on the same governorship election.

In a related development, INFO DAILY has gathered that the state chairman of the party, Col. David Imuse {rtd) is expected to tender his letter of resignation next week Monday.

His resignation is occasioned by his aspiration to occupy the number one seat of the state.

As an aspirant of the governoship election, he is not expected to occupy the chairmanship position nothing less than 30 days to party primary, according to the electoral law
