JUST IN: Police Open Up On Release Of Suspended Adamawa REC

The Nigeria Police Force says it has released suspended Resident Electoral Commission (REC) of Adamawa State, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, after several days of interrogation.

A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Friday, said the embattled REC would be reporting to Police headquarters every weekday.

The statement reads : “The Nigeria Police Force hereby confirms that Barr. Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the Suspended Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), who has been in custody for interrogations by the police in the course of investigations into allegations of impropriety during the supplementary gubernatorial pools in the state, has been granted administrative bail by the Police while investigations subsist.

“He is expected to report at the Police Headquarters every weekday while investigations are ongoing on the matter.”

PlatinumPost reports that Yunusa-Ari landed into trouble for illegally declaring the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Adamawa State, Aishatu Dahiru (Binani) winner of the poll when collation of election results were yet to be completed.
