President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ruled out the possibility of a recurrence of the 8th Assembly drama, in which the opposition outwitted the All Progressives Congress, APC, to lead the nation’s legislature, amidst the boiling controversy over the leadership of the 10th National Assembly.
This information was revealed by Tinubu, who was in attendance through Isaac Kekemeke, the National Vice Chairman of the APC Southwest, at a lecture held in honor of Chief Reuben Fasoranti, an Afenifere leader who celebrated his 97th birthday over the weekend.
He asserts that the party still has time to reconcile the opposing groups before to the National Assembly’s inauguration.
He allayed fears that the opposition would hijack the leadership of the National Assembly.
“Opposition will not take over the National Assembly; both the President-elect and party are working tirelessly to ensure that whatever you perceive as anger will be sorted out, and this is a democracy,” he said.
A week ago, APC endorsed Senator Godwill Akpabio and Tajudeen Abbas as Senate President and House of Representatives Speaker.
Since then, aspirants for the 10th NASS leadership have threatened to boycott the party.
In 2015, Bukola Saraki and Hon Yakubu Dogara emerged as winners of the leadership of the National Assembly against the wishes of the ruling APC.
