President-elect Ahmed Bola Tinubu has stated that he will not reimburse Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike for the cost of the flyovers built on federal government roads.

Tinubu made the remarks on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, while commissioning Gov. Wike’s 12th flyover.

During his speech, Wike urged the President-elect to reimburse Rivers State for the cost of federal government road projects when he takes office on May 29.

The governor stated that a letter requesting the refund “has already been prepared” for the state’s incoming governor, Siminialaye Fubara, which he will sign upon taking office, asking the President to approve the refund.

However, in response to Wike’s demands, Tinubu stated that he owed the governor nothing, noting that the roads were being used by Rivers residents.

He said, “the 12 flyovers and the demands you made for refund l, I owe you nothing, it’s your road.

“You can’t chuckle at me and make a demand. You are the one using the road. I commend your effort. You have to lobby me.”
