The sole aspirant for the Etsako West Local Government Area chairmanship ticket, Hon. Zibiri Muhizu Marvelous has emerged as flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 local government election.
He was unopposed at the party’s primary which was held at Etsako West Local Government Council Hall, Auchi. The result of the primary was announced by the Returning Officer, Mr. Yaminu Aigbokhiade, He declared Hon. Zibiri Muhizu Marvelous the winner, with thirty-four votes cast out of thirty-six (36) accredited delegates on the list—two were absent.
Speaking to newsmen and supporters at the end of the exercise, Hon. Marvelous expressed his gratitude to other aspirants who withdrew from the race to throw their weight behind him. He also commended the party delegates, officials, and supporters for showing maturity and good conduct during the election that led to his emergence as the party flag bearer in the forthcoming local government election.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Marvelous described his emergence as a peaceful and historic one.
He said, “I wish to express my gratitude to Almighty Allah for his mercy upon me as everything is not by my power or might. I commend all delegates and stakeholders of the party for the successful exercise. I am also grateful to all security personnel for their commitment to the security of lives and materials throughout the exercise.”
Hon. Marvelous pledged to make the unity and meaningful development of Etsako West LGA his topmost priority when elected as the chairman.
He appealed to the members of the PDP to come together in the interest of the party and the people who have placed their hopes on the party to deliver the dividends of democracy.
