On Wednesday, 20 April 2020, three people were killed in Uselu N’Ahor Community in Uhumwuode local government of Edo State.
The Edo Police commissioner CP Abutu Yaro has ordered a full-scale investigation into the deaths.
Speaking in Benin City, CP Yaro, through the police public relations officer, SP Bello Kongtongs, confirmed that police were informed of a shooting in Uselu N’ Ahor.
Before the officers’ arrival, alleged gunmen had killed three people.
The victims have been identified as Osasu Udubor, Courage Izevbuwa and one Nosa whose last name is unknown.
The bodies of the three men have been deposited in the mortuary while other persons who sustained various degrees of injuries are receiving treatment.
CP Yaro ordered the investigating team to step up action towards ensuring prompt arrest and prosecution of the culprits.
He added, “No heinous crime will be swept under the carpet in Edo state”, and warned warring communities not to resort to killings to settle scores.
“We are currently disturbed with the killings in Uselu N’Ahor, and I can assure you that the police will get to the root of the matter,” SP Kongtongs said.
He added, “We hereby called on members of the public to give the police genuine information that will lead to the arrest of those involved in the killings”.
Local leaders of Uselu N’ Ahor community have signed a petition through their legal representative, B.O Ojumah Esq.
The leaders appealed to the Commissioner to expand the investigation to arrest the principal perpetrators who had been identified in the horrific killings.
According to the petition sighted by Standard Gazette crime correspondent Festus Alenkhe “We are now staying in our homes with serious fear as the killers might come back to attack and kill our children again.
“We appeal for those we mentioned their names in the petition to be arrested and charged to court for murder”.
On 14 September 2021, the same culprits carried out a similar attack and went into hiding, the community claimed.
The alleged culprits are Michael Enotiomwomwan aka Akpan – the gang leader, Nosa Omoregie, Oseghe Efe, Omos, Abeto, Friday Omoregie, Tega aka Sojo, Terry Idahosa, Omomagiowade Osazuwa, Osarodion Aifuwa, Ajolo, Osabohien Enotiomwan, Odu Abe, Osamuyi Osarenotor aka Alotera, Ene Enotiomwan and Friday also known as FR.
