Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has condemned the increasing attack on opposition political parties’ members in Ebonyi and Imo states, saying the attacks and killings “must stop now.”
The pro-Biafra group which made the condemnation in a statement by the director of information, Comrade Edeson Samuel, specifically accused Governors Dave Umahi and Hope Uzodimma of Ebonyi and Imo states, respectively, of being behind the killings and intimidations.
The statement urged the two governors to check the killings or face a possible banishment from their respective states after their tenure in office.
The statement reads: “MASSOB warns governments of Ebonyi and Imo states to stop these increasing intimidations, harassments and killings of the citizens of their respective states because of their political differences.
“Its very unfortunate that anarchy, insecurities and lack of respect for the rule of law are wearing caps so badly in these states as a result of Adolfus Hitler like lordship in their respective states.
“The governors of Ebonyi and Imo states have forgotten that in less than six months and fourteen months respectively, their political tenures shall elapse and they will be dragged to international criminal court of justice over the heinous crime, they committed against humanity and citizens of their respective states. Why must they kill because they want to remain in power?
“MASSOB wishes to make it clear that any politician in Igbo land who kills our people will be banished after he may have gone out of office.
“MASSOB observed that the governments of Ebonyi and Imo states are using their killer squad, named Ebube Agu Security Outfit after the candidates of Labour party, APGA and PDP in Ebonyi state while in Imo state, the candidates of PDP, APGA and Labour Party are suffering same persecutions and mesmerisation.
“It is very unfortunate that the security agents in Ebonyi and Imo states cannot protect the innocent citizens of these states, and none of the criminals used to perpetrate these crimes has been arrested because they are working for their states government,” MASSOB regretted.
