Nigeria Basketball Federation Dedicates D’Tigers Wins Against US & Argentina To Sound Sultan

The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has dedicated D’Tigers win against Team USA and Argentina to the late veteran singer, Sound Sultan.

The singer, who was well known for his passion and love for basketball, helped develop the game in Festac area of Lagos.

He passed away in the early hours of Sunday, July 11, after a four-year long battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma.

On the same day he died, the Nigerian basketball team made history by defeating the United States team 90-87 in an exhibition game ahead of Tokyo Olympics.

D’Tigers also defeated Argentina who are ranked fourth-best team in the world on Tuesday, July 12.

Shortly after the game, NBBF took to their verified Twitter page to dedicate the two historic wins to the late singer.

“We dedicate the victories against the US & Argentina to the late Olanrewaju Fasasi (Sound Sultan). You saw this day coming when Nigeria would become a dominant force in global basketball. Ironically, the day we won against Team USA was when you gave up the ghost. RIP,” the tweet read.
