The Cross River Trade Union Congress (TUC) has revealed that no civil servant in the state has been promoted in the last seven years.
Monday Ogbodum, the TUC chairman, spoke to reporters about the welfare of employees during Ben Ayade’s eight years in office.
Apart from the timely payment of salaries and pensions, according to Ogbodum, workers’ welfare was at its worst under the current administration.
He claimed that the last time retirees received gratuities was in 2014 and that employee promotions since 2016 have not been fully executed.
Regarding the distribution of gratuities, he said that a government-created committee fell into disarray following the initial release of N200 million in January to April 2022.
In the month of March 2014, not all retirees were able to access the cash; nevertheless, no further funds have been made available, according to Ogbodum.
“Therefore, payment of gratuities to state retirees from April 2014 and local government workers from 2012 is still pending,” he added.
The Labour leader said annual incremental rate used to be a thing of joy, but government had reneged on this despite the MoU entered into.
“Supply of computers: Workers’ salaries were deducted for this purpose and up till now, some workers have not been supplied computers.
“The committee as captured in the MoU to ascertain the outstanding liabilities has not been set up by the government,” the TUC chairman added.
