It was a political thunderstorm yesterday evening that ensured a total sweep of the who is who in the family of Mr Dickson Ahonsi, Owan West Local Government Area Liaison Officer as hundreds of them dumped the PDP for the APC in an expansive decampment ceremony held in the heart of Uzebba, Owan West Local Government Area.
Ahonsi’s Family Defection
This happened just as member representing Owan Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Prof Julius Ihonvbere tasked those seeking the true definition of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), not to look too far but direct their attention to the havoc done by Edo State Government to the Federal Institute of Basic and Vocational Studies situated along Iruekpen/Ifon expressway, Uzebba.
The onslaught on the Dickson Ahonsi’s was led by Mrs Queen Ahonsi, who until her decampment alongside hundreds of her kindred and supporters was the Owan West LGA Co-ordinator for Nigerian Women Unit for Atiku/OKOWA, (NWUFFA).
Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs Queen Ahonsi said her major reason for mobilizing her siblings and supporters to dump the PDP was occasioned by the developmental strides and enormous interventions as well as the humane disposition and display of empathy to the needy by Prof Julius Ihonvbere which she has keenly followed over time. She said the current Liaison Officer to Gov Godwin Obaseki in charge of Owan West, Mr Dickson Ahonsi, along with some others, including Barr Johnson Abolagba are the PDP’s main albatross to winning elections in Owan West, noting that the duo operates as a cabal that pursues only their selfish desires to the detriment of the generality of the people.
She said both Dickson Ahonsi and Abolagba marked her out for political isolation months back when she told them in clear terms that under no circumstances would she work for Jimoh Ijegbai against an Owan West son because according to her, it is the turn of Owan West to do two terms in the Reps just like Owan East did via Hon Pally Iriase, 2011-2019.
Mrs Queen Ahonsi further stressed that the Ahonsi’s family whose original root is in ward 6, Owan West LGA spread across other wards especially wards 9 and 10, adding that a greater number of them have been mobilized to dump Dickson Ahonsi that has constituted a stumbling block to the political growth of others in the family and vowed to ensure a sustained mobilization of the women folks in Iuleha land towards ensuring the victory of Prof Julius Ihonvbere and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Receiving them into the APC’s fold, Rep Prof Julius Ihonvbere said they have made the wisest choice of leaving a party the PDP, that has no intention of adding value to the Owan people. Ihonvbere noted that whoever that seeks what the PDP entails should just pay a visit to the Federal Institute for Basic and Vocational Studies, Uzebba and see the rot that the place has turned to due to the refusal of Gov Godwin Obaseki to officially open the Institution for reasons best known to him.
The Owan Rep who went down memory lane on how he facilitated the establishment of the Institution to Uzebba expressed sadness as to why an Institution that would have brought the much desired development to Iuleha and Owan land in general through a multiplier effect on the economic life of the people could be allowed to rot away with the equipment meant for it’s smooth operations lying fallow in Govt House, Benin-City.
He assured the people of a more deepening representation in his second term by ensuring that all his ongoing legislations including, the Federal University of Sports, Afuze, Federal Medical Centre, Sabongidda-Ora as well as the Federal School for Nursery and Midwifery, Sobe that are at various stages of legislations come into fruition.
The Rep member announced to an ecstatic crowd that he has projects in all the 22 wards that make up Owan Federal Constituency, a feat he described as historic as far as representation is concerned in Owan Federal Constituency.
Those on Prof Julius Ihonvbere’s entourage to the decampment ceremony includes, Edo State House of Assembly hopeful, Hon Ohio Ezomo, Owan West APC LGA party, Mr Frank Davids, former member, Edo State House of Assembly who presently is Owan West Campaign Coordinator for Tinubu/Shettima/Oshiomhole, Hon Ojo Victor Asein, Former Commissioner for Environment, Hon Reginald Okun, PJI Campaign Coordinator for Owan West, Hon Monday Ogbeta, Owan West APC Chairmanship candidate, Sir Enahoro Aikpokpo and a host of others.
