Offers suggestion on preventing future occurrence*
The immediate past National Chairman of the APC and former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has commiserated with the Otaru and people of Auchi Kingdom over the truck accident that claimed many lives in the community recently.
In a statement released yesterday by his Senior media aide, Mr Victor Oshioke, Comrade Oshiomhole expressed his sadness and pain over the incident as he wished peaceful rest to those who lost their lives. He also wished those wounded quick recovery and offered suggestions on how such occurrences can be averted in the future.

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole received with shock and sadness the news of a heavy duty truck accident which occurred yesterday March 9, 2022 in Auchi, Edo State. According to emerging unofficial reports, many lives were lost, scores of people wounded and properties worth millions of Naira damaged. It is quite unfortunate that people going about their normal daily activities found themselves caught up in such a horribly traumatic and for some, life terminating circumstances.
This recent occurrence is one accident too many considering that very similar accidents have happened around the same spot in the not too distant past.
It is high time therefore that all stakeholders come together to share ideas on how to put a permanent end to these recurring ugly incidents. Auchi is a fast growing town in terms of population, urbanisation and economy. This requires that measures are introduced to accommodate these growths to enhance security of lives and properties. A possible solution which should be considered seriously and immediately is the mounting of standardised asphalt speed bumps from Uyi Grand Hotel axis to Igbo Shed axis and from Otaru Palace axis to AP Filling Station axis all in downtown Auchi. Such speed bumps, if erected will greatly slow down the speed of all vehicles, especially heavy duty trucks descending the slopes and eliminate incidents of failed brakes that have been blamed for these accidents.
Comrade Adams Oshiomhole commiserates with the Otaru of Auchi Sacred Kingdom HRH Alhaji H.A Momoh, Ikelebe III, the people of the kingdom and Edo people as a whole for this gory and painful incident. He joins others in prayers that the souls of the departed rest in peace while wishing the wounded quick recovery and the courage to begin the process of getting their lives back together.
