A popular Ugandan pastor died after he was killed in a bizarre circumstance while performing prayers for a family at their homestead. The incident which left the residents and the family of the pastor distraught is said to have happened while church members were cutting a tree situated in the middle of the compound.
It was a particularly mind-boggling occurrence in Uganda after Pastor Jimmy Obong passed on in a split of a second. The minister was welcomed by relatives of Mr. Ben Ogwang so he could offer prayers.
Ben Ogwang had coordinated prayers for his sick relative recognized as John Okodi, where he welcomed Obong among other prayer warriors. On a report recorded by the Daily Monitor, as they were going on with prayers, an unidentified lady got moved by ‘malicious spirits’.
The lady supposedly led the individuals to a tree associated with having evil spirits torturing Okodi’s family. They later chose to cut the said tree, and it fell on Obong, who died on the spot. As indicated by the police report, Obongo’s body was taken to Alebtong Health Center IV morgue anticipating a postmortem.
The North Kyoga provincial police representative, Jimmy Patrick Okema, said they have arrested 13 individuals following the episode, adding that investigations are progressing. “It’s true we have arrested thirteen people. Our police officers visited the crime scene, and the deceased’s body has been taken to Alebtong Health Centre IV’s mortuary awaiting postmortem,” he said.
