PDP Crisis: More Drama As Igueben LGA Leaders Denounces Vote Of No Confidence Of Chief Tom Ikimi

The enlarged LGA PDP Leaders and Exco of the party in Igueben Local Government Area, observed with great disappointment and grave concern the unsavoury news that has gone viral in the main and social media that the Edo Central Senatorial Executive committee including the Party’s LGAs held an emergency meeting on Thursday 13th May, 2021 and passed a vote of NO CONVIDENCE on our national leader, Chief Tom Ikimi on account of his position held in a meeting at the instance of the Executive Governor of Edo state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki who invited him as a respected member and leader of the party.

Having considered the resolutions reached at the meeting and reflected on the directives given to the LGA chairmen,
We, the enlarged members and leaders of the party at the Igueben LGA including the LGA Executives completely and unequivocally dissociate ourselves and hereby resolved as follows:

1. That we strongly support and Sue for peace, unity and stability of our great party, PDP.
2. We support and uphold the leadership qualities and the contributions of Chief Tom Ikimi to the growth of our great party, PDP in Edo State in particular and Nigeria in general
3. Taking cognizance of the national status of Chief Ikimi – as member of PDP BOT, former National Chairman of a dominant National Party (NRC), and in addition to his several contributions to the development of PDP in Edo Central in particular and Edo State in general, we expect all sons and daughters of Esan land,(Edo Central senatorial district) to accord Chief lkimi the due respect and treat him with utmost dignity.

4. Having carefully read and reflected on the statement made by Chief Tom Ikimi following this unfortunate and self – damaging news passed by the PDP Exco in Edo central senatorial district on the VOTE of NO CONFIDENCE, we believe that our national leader, Chief Tom Ikimi has not committed any offence against the party that should result in such a hasty disparage of his personality.
Chief Ikimi attended the meeting in Government House on the invitation of the Governor as an Elder Stateman and member of PDP BOT. His contributions, based on wisdom and long standing experience, in the meeting on the need to harmonize and establish an all inclusive Executive committee members of PDP in Edo State following the election of Godwin Obaseki as the Executive Governor and the admission of APC members to the party does not constitute a breach of the extant rules of the party and for a party that is desirous of a dominant leading position in Edo state and the country at large .
At that level of consultation, it was a recommendation that awaited further consultations of all party leaders in the state before the final resolution on the subject matter because the issues raised on the re-composition of PDP Executives in Edo State have direct link with the overall interest, the peace, unity and stability of the party. It is on this note that we urge the leaders and members of our party to exercise restraint and caution and be opened to discussions and dialogue on the best way forward and to avoid disharmony and destructive conflicts within the PDP which could be inimical to the overall interest of the party at this point in time of reestablishing our dominant leadership role in the state and the country.

In conclusion therefore and following from our above resolutions:
1. We the Leaders, LGA Executives and ward Chairmen of Igueben LGA strongly dissociate ourselves from the decisions of the Edo central executive members as was contained in their resolution passing a vote of NO CONFIDENCE on our Leader Chief Tom Ikimi;
AND

2. We denounce the VOTE of NO CONFIDENCE that was passed on Chief Tom Ikimi by the Edo Central PDP exco at their meeting.
3. We reiterate our firm position and pass our VOTE of CONFIDENCE in the person and the leadership of Chief Ikimi in the Igueben LGA and Edo central PDP and for the overall interest of our party at the state and national levels.
