The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation, has rescheduled its campaign rallies following the trip of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to the United States. Abubakar landed in Washington D.C, United States on Thursday and a statement by the Director of Field Operations of his campaign, Umar Bature, announced that the party’s presidential rallies earlier scheduled to be held in Ondo, Kebbi, Ekiti and Bayelsa States would no longer hold as scheduled.
Bature further informed that new dates would be communicated by the campaign organization once they were fixed. “This is to formally inform all Management of the PCO that in view of our Candidates’ trip to the United States, our Presidential Rallies earlier scheduled for Ekiti, Ondo, Kebbi and Bayelsa States will no longer hold as scheduled. New dates will be communicated once they are fixed. All inconveniences regrettable,” the terse statement said.
In a related development, Atiku Abubakar’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, has explained that the PDP presidential candidate is visiting the United States to share his vision with Nigerian professionals abroad. According to him, the visit will afford the PDP presidential candidate the opportunity of high-level engagements aimed at setting the pace for building an economically stronger and more secure Nigeria.
“Atiku will be in the US for a week-long engagement that will opportune the frontline presidential candidate share his vision for Nigeria with US business communities and young Nigerian professionals in North America,” the statement read in part. With Atiku on the trip are the Director-General of the PDP presidential campaign council and governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, former governor of Imo, Emeka Ihedioha and Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, among others.
