PRESS RELEASE.
THE STATE WORKING COMMITTEE SEEKS OUTRIGHT DISREGARD OF THE PURPORTED COMMUNIQUE ISSUED BY ETSAKO WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT APC LEADERS, WARD AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT EXCO AT THE END OF AN EMERGENCY MEETING HELD ON THE 12TH OF APRIL, 2024.
The State working committee of our great party, the APC, Edo State chapter read with total dismay and aghast, the very puerile and unconstitutionally based communique allegedly issued by leaders, wards and Local Government Exco of our party in Etsako west LGA.
Firstly, the purported communique is bereft of any legal credibility and substance because the content negates or runs contrary to the spirit and letters of both the constitution of our party and that of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as Amended.
Secondly, arising from above, it most unequivocally be noted that the membership and or electing to becoming a member of any Association, APC inclusive is regulated by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as Amended and APC as a party is founded and cast on the principles of law and justice and is unreservedly committed to embrace the true tenets of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and cannot operate outside of that realm.
Suffice to say therefore, the admission of anybody inclusive of Rt Hon Philip Shaibu as a member of our great party cannot be stopped, resisted or and obliterated by any organ (s) of the party provided he meets the criteria as embodied in the constitution.
These were what informed the National working committee, speaking through the National secretary’s decision to the effect that Rt. Hon Philip Shaibu shall and will be admitted, the moment he makes himself available to be so admitted.
It is therefore most ridiculous to hear some persons sitting in the comfort of their homes to speak contrary to this revered position.
As to the role of our dynamic Acting State Chairman on attracting persons into the party, the communique betrayed itself when it grossly condemned the very essence of the fundamental role of the Acting State Chairman in a season such as this, when all political parties in the state are harvesting members of other parties with a view to ensuring that electoral victory is attained because, the foundation of democracy is the greater number of members of any party which shall propelled the party to winning ways.
The architects of the communique demonstrated that they don’t mean well for this our party. To condemn the action of the Acting State Chairman which should have been applauded is no mean encapsulated in negative motives.
The State working committee condemned in the strongest terms the nefarious and otoise intent of the communique and advise that same should be withdrawn from public space, as same shall portray our great party in bad light before the enthusiastic Edo people who are basking in the euphoria of the belief that our great party is robustly positioned to take over Edo State come November 2024.
The peace that is being promoted by our leaders across the State should not be distorted by this self serving and mundane communique orchestrated by persons whose legal authority did not extend to doing what they intend to achieve by the obnoxious communique.
