Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team IRT have arrested one Friday Domozu, 23years old native of Jarkama Village, Bassa LGA of Kogi State, the leader of the kidnap gang responsible for the abduction and killing of a six-year-old girl, Farida Yahaya at the Gabije Area of Kogi State on 2nd November 2020.
The victim was abducted with one Abdulraheem,14years old who later escaped from the kidnappers’ den.
Investigations carried out by the Police team revealed that the kidnappers demanded a huge sum as ransom from the family of the little girl before she could be released.
But the inability of the family of the little girl to raise the money made the abductors kill her.
After an extensive undercover investigation, the prime suspect identified as Friday Domozu was arrested.
He later led the Police Team to the forest at Gabije area of Kogi State where the lifeless body of the little girl was recovered.
A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Abuja, CP Frank MBA and obtained by Standard Gazette Crime Correspondent Festus Alenkhe said the police later discovered the decomposing body of another victim identified to be a 40-year-old Ibrahim Madaki earlier declared missing.
The remains of the victims have been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
The prime suspect, Friday Domozu was discovered to be an ex-military trainee who was declared unfit and subsequently withdrawn 5-months into the military training based on medical grounds.
Efforts are being intensified to arrest his gang members now at large.
Also, the Police Team arrested one Halidu Usman of Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
He was identified as the leader of the gang responsible for the killing of an Assistant Comptroller of Immigration, Late ACL Salisu Usman at Gudi area in Akwanga Local government area of Nasarawa State on 15th June 2020.
The suspects stormed the house of the victim, killed him and his younger sister, Sa’adatu Usman, a final year medical student of the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto State.
The killers also abducted the wife of the victim, Asmau Salisu and collected ransom from the family before her release.
The suspect is assisting the police team in their investigation.
The police operatives also arrested four (4) kidnap and armed robbery suspects responsible for the recent kidnapping of some staff of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria in Kaduna state.
The suspects were profiled to be Abubakar Aliyu popularly called “Maigiwa” 27years old, Aliyu Bello 18years old, Ishaku Kabiru 30years old and Abubakar Yakubu popularly called “Dogo”
One of the suspects, Abubakar Aliyu is a security staff of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna state who provides information to the gang on the movement and lifestyle of the victims.
Some of the victims were rescued during the operation and reunited with their families.
In the meantime, a kidnap victim also identified and raised alarm on upon sighting one Ibrahim Idris also known as “Naira” as the member of the gang responsible for his kidnap and collection of ransom before his release.
The Police Team on the 7th of January, 2021 arrested the suspect which led to the arrest of two other gang members namely Abubakar Yusuf popularly called “Ndalati” who is 42 years old and Abubakar Ahmodu, 20 years old.
Investigations revealed that Abubakar Ahmodu is responsible for the monitoring and information of those to be kidnapped. The suspect also provided intimate details about his father which led to the kidnap and eventual collection of Two Million naira ransom from his biological father.
All the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu has commended the Police IGP Intelligence Response Team for a job well done.
