Police Arrests Two More Dowen College Students, 3 Housemasters Over Murder Of 12-Year-Old Sylvester Oromoni

Two additional students and three house masters of Dowen College have reportedly been arrested and detained by the Lagos State Police over their alleged involvement in the torture and death of Sylvester Oromoni.

Trixx NG had reported that three students and their parents who visited the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba in the company of their parents and lawyers were detained.

This brings the total number of students in Police custody to five.

It gathered that three house masters arrested were on duty the day the incident happened.

Police also said they have obtained a court order to detain the students for 21 days at the Juvenile centre.

Recall the news of Sylvester’s death went viral last Wednesday following a social media post by his cousin, Perry Oromoni, who alleged that some senior pupils of the college beat him up in his hostel for refusing to join a cult.

However, the school denied the claims, stating that the boy complained of pain in his legs and hip following an injury he sustained while playing football.

Two of the parents of the accused students – Edward Brown and Michael Kashamu, have come out to say their children are not responsible for the death of Sylvester Oromoni.

The state government has subsequently ordered the indefinite closure of the school pending the outcome of an investigation into the matter
