Police Begin Preparation For 2023 Elections

The Nigeria Police Force has commenced preparation for the 2023 general elections.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi gave the hint at a press briefing on Friday.

Inspector General Usman Baba will preside over a conference and retreat for Senior Police Officers in Owerri, the Imo capital.

The gathering will discuss how the Force can play a play more effective and efficient role in the management of election security.

Adejobi announced that Baba had outlined tailored strategies as the country prepares for the transfer of power next May.

“These include training to enhance the capacity of officers and men to respond to threats to the general elections and adequately manage national security”, he said.

The FPRO assured that the police were unrelenting in ensuring that the people experienced a friendly policing system.

The spokesperson said the Force was determined to tackle villains and other purveyors of crime and criminality.

However, Baba has inaugurated ‘Operation Restore Peace’ to restore order in the South-East region.

The IGP has also launched ‘Operation Sahara Storm’ in Sokoto to combat banditry in the northern parts of Nigeria
