Police Launch Investigation Into Gunshots Fired Into Bob Izua’s Residence In Benin

Edo state commissioner of police Philip Ogbadu has ordered a full-scale investigation into gunshots fired into the bedroom of the Ayobahan of Benin Kingdom, Chief John Osamede Adun by a man who claimed to be a member of the vigilante group in Benin city.

According to Standard Gazette, The Police Public Relations Officer in Edo state, SP Bello Kontongs disclosed this today in Benin city while speaking with standard Gazette crime correspondent Festus Alenkhe.

SP Bello Kontongs said that the police got a distress call that some armed men were in Ogbe quarters in Benin city shooting sporadically.

It was revealed that one of the armed men shot directly into the bedroom of the Ayobahan of Benin, Chief Osamede Adun at about 2.30 pm.

Glass windows and roofs were shattered as expended cartridges littered the room.

SP kontongs said the timely arrival of the police to the area prevented one of the suspects from being lynched as he was apprehended on the spot.

According to the Edo State Police image maker “The suspect said he was in a burial ceremony in Ogbe and was firing gunshots indiscriminately and the bullets went straight into Chief Adun’s bedroom”.

Contacted, the Aýobahan of Benin, Chief John Osamede Adun said he was in the bedroom when he suddenly heard the sound of gunshots.

Chief Adun who is the chief executive of Bob Izua conglomerate said “My children were all in the bedroom and the gunshots destroyed the window louvres and entered the house”.

He added, “l thank God that no one was injured. Upon hearing the sound of the gun, we quickly mobilised towards the direction of the gunshots and a man was arrested with an English made double barrel gun”.

The police say the suspect now in custody will be charged to court soon.
