Police Reacts As 10 Unidentified Dead Men Discovered In Akoko-Edo

Nigerian police have confirmed the recovery of ten dead men in a bush in Akoko Edo local government area of Edo State.

According to the police, the remains were discovered through credible intelligence led by the Operatives of Ibillo Division Headquarters of Edo state Police command.

The division worked with the Edo vigilante group and the hunters on Tuesday, 1 November 2022.

The remains of ten males were found along a bush path by Ibillo-Lampese Road, Lagos-Abuja Expressway in Akoko Edo around 11:00 am.

 

Police were called to the site and discovered the ten males in their 20s.

A statement signed by the Edo State police public relations officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said that a preliminary investigation and photographs of the remains showed no noticeable mark of violence or materials that could lead to identifying the dead bodies.

Fulani/Hausa communities and the indigenous communities invited to examine the corpses have also declared that the remains were not natives of their group.

The police confirmed that the corpses had been deposited at the Ibillo General Hospital Mortuary for preservation and forensic investigation.

The Commissioner Of Police Edo State Command, CP Mohammed Dankwara, appealed to anyone with useful information that may lead to uncovering the cause of death of the ten young men.

The police are also investigating to identify and arrest those responsible for the criminal act.
