Muyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has come under fire on social media following comments he made regarding the abduction of six sisters in Abuja.
Adejobi advised people not to be overly concerned about the situation, stating, “don’t cry more than the bereaved,” a post that agitated twitter following the kidnap of the six sisters.

The incident involves the kidnapping of six sisters and the tragic killing of one of them, Nabeeha. The abduction occurred on January 5 at their residence in Zuma 1, Bwari area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). While the father was later released, the remaining five girls are still in captivity, and Nabeeha’s body has been returned to the family.
Adejobi’s comments drew criticism on social media, especially in light of the sensitive nature of the incident. Many expressed dismay at what they perceived as a lack of empathy in the statement.
Meanwhile, Adejobi responded to a post by Bashir Ahmad, a former special assistant on digital communications to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, suggesting that Ahmad or the family members of the abducted six sisters “relate with the police codedly.” Adejobi assured that the police were actively working on the case but needed additional information, emphasizing their commitment to taking all measures to secure the release of the kidnapped girls.
