The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state has admonished the electorate to vote for all its candidates in the March 11 state assembly election in order to ensure accountability in governance.
The chairman of the party, Col. David Imuse (retd.), who disclosed this to journalists in Benin City, said the party hoped to claim all the 24 seats at the poll.
He said, “This is a local election. It’s Obaseki versus the people. Over the last six and half years, there has been no accountability in governance in Edo state.
“This is because Edo has no functional House of Assembly. Edo people need a governor that can be held accountable to the people and the only organ that can do that is the legislature.”
On the emergence of Bola Tinubu as the winner of last Saturday’s presidential election, Imuse expressed confidence that the president-elect would “be the best Nigeria has ever had.”
According to him, Tinubu’s Renewed Hope manifesto would come to fruition across all sectors.
While noting that the presidential election was keenly contested by the candidates, Imuse urged the losers to imbibe the culture of democracy and accept the loss in good faith.
