Posters Of Edo Prison Escapees Flood Benin

.. Call on the public to report their whereabouts to security agents.

Edo state command of the Nigerian Correctional Service has released the names and pictures of all those who escaped from the Nigeria correctional Service facilities (Prisons) in Benin city Edo state on the 18 of October 2020.

During the ENDSARS protest that was allegedly hijacked, there was an attack on Oko and Sapele road prisons in Benin city Edo state where over 2,000 inmates were unlawfully set free.

Since the breakout, the state has experienced a heightened insecurity challenge.

 


Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and the Controller General of the Nigeria correctional service all visited the two prisons to ascertain the level of attacks.

The prison bosses were advised to roll out a profile of all those that escaped from the correctional facilities.

Posters with the names and pictures of all the escapees have now been released to the public for easy identification.

According to the inscription spotted on the posters, “members of the public who have information on the whereabouts of any of the escapees are expected to call the correctional service phone numbers on 08052361952, 08034716394, 09025295632, 08038075882 or Edo police control room numbers on 08077773721 or 08037646272”.

When contacted for comments, Edo state Police Public Relations Officer SP Bello Kontongs said policemen and other security agents, including members of the public, are expected to look out for the prison escapees and contact the numbers above.
