The All Progressive Congress (APC) aspirants in Quan Pan Local Government in the forthcoming local government elections in Plateau State have protested against the imposition of candidates without primaries.
The aspirants with their supporters besieged the party secretariat in Doemark to express their grievances.
It would be recalled that the APC held its primaries across the 17 local governments on Wednesday.
Mrs Magdalene Nanyil, a chairmanship aspirant on behalf of four other aspirants, said the chairmanship and councillorship primaries did not hold in the area.
According to her, the purported names of candidates allegedly submitted to the party executives were not the mandate of APC in Quan’pan.
“We were told to converge at the party secretariat in Doemark for the party primaries, but the people didn’t come. We all waited here till night fall, but none of them came to conduct the party primaries.”
“But now, we were informed that names of candidates from Quan’pan LGA have been submitted to the party secretariat in Jos.
“We won’t accept that; that is why we are calling on the leader of the party, Governor Simon Lalong, to quickly intervene so that the decision can be reversed in the interest of all party faithful.”
She described the decision as “injustice of the highest order” that won’t be tolerated and threatened legal redress.
The State Secretary of the party, Mr Bashir Musa, in a response, said “Our attention has been drawn to an unauthorised circulation of fake list of purported winners of the elections on social media.
“Members of the party should disregard the message and avoid making statements that will promote the agenda of mischief makers.”
