Real Reasons Why Husbands Usually Die Earlier Than Wives

Statistically, women live longer than men with an average lifespan of 7 years. For instance, my dad died in 2011 at the age of 89 but my mother is still alive and even farming in our backyard. One interesting thing is that it seems she doesn’t age anymore after almost 10 years of her husband’s death.

That’s really good news for our family because she hardly falls sick, making her more of a blessing than a burden. So always seeing her strong and healthy triggered me to research why husbands seem to die earlier than wives.

Now, when you take a good look at people above age 65, the majority of them are women. Below is why men have a shorter lifespan than women:

■ The frontal lobe of the brain (the part responsible for judgment and the consequences of an action) develops slower in boys than girls. That means most men seem to be reckless in life: they drive drunk, jump from heights, smoke, use aphrodisiacs for sexual performance, etc.

Our anatomy professor, a German, once said to us: “If women were world leaders, the world would have been more peaceful and prosperous.” In other words, a woman would hardly endorse a bomb to be launched on others or make decisions that would make millions of children hunger to death.”

■ Men are more prone to heart diseases: Any male you see has more than a 50% chance of dying of heart disease than any female. Risks like poorly treated high blood pressure or unfavorable cholesterol levels could be a factor. Remember: Most men avoid visiting a doctor (medical care) as compared to women.

■ Larger than women: The larger an animal, the earlier it dies and men seem to be larger than women. Hence, it’s important to take exercise seriously as a man and watch your lifestyle.

■ Riskier jobs: When it comes to the riskiest occupations in the world, men far outnumber women. Example: firefighting, military combat, and working at construction sites.

Though much cannot be done about some of these factors, in the last 5 years, however, the lifestyles of men in developed countries have rather seemed to improve significantly, especially in Europe.

The men minimize alcohol consumption, smoking, and are always the ones in the kitchen cooking than women. In today’s world, men can do what women do.

They also spend quality time with their wives and children, improving their social life more.

That’s impressive because they now care more about not just what they eat but the families they have.

Also, they hit the gym or go jogging and hiking regularly. These exercises are good for the heart.

Regardless of gender, be encouraged to develop positive lifestyle habits, both physically and mentally.
