Sen Tinubu, Jakande’s widow, Obasa, Others Bid Ex-deputy Speaker Farewell

The lawmaker representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu; Minister of State Health, Sen. Olorunimbe Mamora; widow of former Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Abimbola Jakande; Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa and one-time Lagos State Commissioner for Finance Wale Edun led other political stalwarts to bid the first woman deputy speaker in Lagos, Adetoun Mutiat Adediran, farewell.

They spoke yesterday at the Eight-Day Fidau for the 53-year-old former lawmaker and party leader held at Eko Club, Surulere, Lagos.

The event featured prayers and tributes for Adediran, who died on January 5.

The Chief Imam of Lawanson Central Mosque, Imam AbdulGaniy Muhammadu Kazeem, who delivered a lecture, urged politicians to remember God in their dealings.

He said death could come unannounced and everyone would be buried alone in the grave without accumulated wealth and worldly things.

Lagos State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker Wasiu Esinlokun described Adediran as a rare breed of politician, who was dedicated and committed to the welfare of the people.

He said the Assembly would miss the selfless politician and experienced leader, adding that it would not forget in a hurry, her contributions to the parliament.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Chairman, Lagos Central Senatorial District, Chief Abayomi Daramola, described Adediran as a fantastic and a forthright woman.

Secretary of APC Lagos Central Senatorial District Alhaji Nasiru Akande described her death as a great loss for the party.

Former Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area Chairman Kamal Salau-Bashua described the late first female deputy speaker as a dependable politician.

The deceased’s daughter, Miss Adejuwon Adediran, said her mother’s constituents, family, relatives and associates would miss her.
