Barcelona have qualified for this year’s Spanish Super Cup final, after beating Real Sociedad in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw after extra time on Wednesday night.
Riqui Puig scored the decisive spot-kick for Barcelona after Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie de Jong both missed the target.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the Barcelona goal denied Real Sociedad twice from the spot.
De Jong headed Barcelona in front in the 39th minute after fine link-up play between Martin Braithwaite and Griezmann.
De Mikel Oyarzabal then levelled for Real Sociedad from the spot in the second half.
Spanish Cup holders, Real Madrid, will face Athletic Bilbao in the second semi-final on Thursday night.
The winner between Madrid and Athletic will face Barcelona in the final on Sunday.
