Three Jigawa Senators Lose Governorship, National Assembly Tickets

Three Senators in Jigawa State have all lost their bid in the just concluded All Progressives Congress, APC, primary elections.

Two of them- Sen. Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, representing Jigawa central and Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hedejia, epresenting Jigawa North East lost their bid to secure the party’s governorship ticket.

DAILY POST reported that the two Senators lost to the incumbent Deputy Governor, Malam Umar Namadi who scored popular votes.

Senator representing Jigawa North West senatorial district, Abdullahi Danladi Sankara lost his bid after he withdrew from the contest for the ticket of Jigawa Northwest Senatorial Zone few minutes to the commencement of the primary election.

His withdrawal is contained in a letter sent to the APC, obtained by DAILY POST, citing personal reasons.

This means that none of the three current Jigawa Senators will return to the Red Chambers come 2023 general elections.

Jigawa North Central was won by Ibrahim Gaya, while Phar. Ubale Hashim won the ticket for Jigawa North East.

Jigawa North West was won by a former Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of works, Babangida Hussain, who defeated Sen. Abdullahi Ojo with 527 to 74 votes.
