Calamity has struck in Ate Community near Igarra, Akoko Edo Local government area of Edo State after an angry man machete an inlaw to death.
Mr Bayo Iremoje, 65, had slapped a woman, Halimat Amaize, 75, after a quarrel degenerated into a scuffle on Friday 18 June at 7.30 pm
According to Standard Gazette’s crime correspondent, Festus Alenkhe, gathered that the neighbour settled the parties, reminding them they are inlaws.

However, aggrieved Mrs Amaize told her son, Emmanuel Amaize, 55, that Iremoje had slapped her.
Standard Gazette gathered that Angry Emmanuel confronted Iremoje, leading to a big fight.
Not done, Emmanuel grabbed a machete and butchered his opponent’s head and the rest of the body three times.
Mr Iremoje was pronounced dead before he arrived at the hospital.
Standard Gazette learned that Emmanuel has been arrested and detained at the Igarra Police Division to be transferred to the Homicide Department in Edo for further investigation.
Speaking with Standard Gazette, Emmanuel alleged that it was self-defence, urging that “Immediately l went to ask the man why he slapped my mother, he brought out cutlass to attack me, l then collected it from him and used it to kill him”.
The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bello Kontongs, confirmed the incident.
” Yes, a man used cutlass to kill his inlaw. Our men went to IGARRA, and the exhibit was recovered. We will charge the man to court for murder soon,” SP Kontongs confirmed to Standard Gazette.
SP Kongtongs said the case would be thoroughly investigated as the police team had already visited the crime scene in Ate.
